Take Care of Your Lures and They Will Take Care of You

Once you have a collection of your very own fishing lures, you still have to take care of and repair them. This is the only way that you will be able to use them on a regular basis and guarantee that they stay in great condition. Time and effort is all you need to keep them up to par.

If you put together and make your own lures, then you should be able to take them apart and repair them. If not, you can get the necessary tools and learn how they work by using a search engine on the computer. Type in “Making Your own Fishing Lures.”

Lures don’t require much to keep them in proper working order. Just keep the lures in your home or shop in their own containers. This way you can keep them organized and keep them dry. If you live by an ocean, it’s best if you keep the metal parts protected from rust or corrosion.

Some lures are equipped with feathers or hair and should be kept in air tight containers so that bugs can’t get to them. Lures that you use on a regular basis require extra care if you want to get the maximum use out of them. Freshwater lures, on the other hand, require less care than saltwater ones.

When you are looking at your lures, it is a good idea to repair one if you aren’t sure about its condition. Usually, this process is relatively easy. You can replace the hooks with new ones and repair any chipped-up parts of the body etc.

Make sure that you use the same type of hooks that you previously used so that you don’t “mess up” the way that the lure is meant to work. If the lure is beyond repair, then just keep it for parts.

If you take chances with your lures, most likely you will pay in some form or fashion. You may snag that perfect fish, but if your lure isn’t up-to-par, it could fail causing you to lose that fish.

You wouldn’t want this to happen to you? Or would you….The choice is yours.
