Hidden Money in Antique Lures

The number one thing to look at when wanting to sell antique fishing lures is - how long ago was it made? Original lures such as Pflueger, Shakespeare, Jamison, and South Bend were made in small quantities making them super rare. Once lures became machine made their value greatly decreased.

Secondly, condition is a major factor in old fishing lures. Many new collectors’ mistake taking lures and refinishing or repairing them because this actually does more harm than good by lowering their value considerably.

If you have/find the right lure, it’s not impossible for it to sell for hundreds of dollars to several thousand dollars at shows or exhibitions. If you plan on taking up this hobby, one of the most important factors is that you have to be able to spot valuable old fishing lures that are hidden in boxes or garage sales. Not being “up to snuff” on lures can cause you to pass right by a rare find.

The best place to start learning is on the web. Once you feel confident enough then you can go fishing for lures!
