Antique and Vintage Lure Hunting
One of the biggest downfalls of collecting antique / vintage fishing lures is that most collectors have to travel great distances to purchase them. Sometimes there are a small amount of lures in any area so you have to go only by pictures that were sent or shown to you or by visiting shows or exhibitions.
The internet has simplified this once complex way of buying collectible fishing lures. Now it is as easy as logging online and browsing the web to find vintage lure shops. Collectors are all over the world such as: America, Mexico, Scotland, and England for example. You can get additional information by simply e-mailing or messaging someone that has images of a lure that you are wanting to buy.
Some collectors offer appraisals and evaluations of antique lures and tackle. If you don’t know much about these different collectibles, then this would be a great option to look into.
If you plan on buying from an auction site such as eBay, be careful. Some people fail to mention that they have touched-up or refinished some lures, thus what you’re buying has greatly depreciated in value.
Fairs, garage sales, and estate sales are great places to find lures. In these places you can usually find a bargain right below your fingertips.
